Set up in the river Eleuterio valley, just outside Palermo, Misilmeri is a rural village whose Arabian roots are shown only by the suggestive remains of the castle overlooking the built-up area.
The Monumental fountain, by Benedetto Civiletti and the Mother church, featuring paintings by Vito D’Anna, are worth a visit.
The Arts and Crafts Trade Fair takes place in November, while the Agriculture and Craftsmanship Itinerant Fair takes place between May and September. Another relevant event is the Lotus festival: as far as this fruit is concerned, Misilmeri is one of the best producing villages in Sicily.
