This town is situated on a terraced hill close to the Cefalù coast; it plays a core role in seaside tourism (public beach/facilities available). It used to have some commercial relevance for its beach acted as a natural landing pier, and it served as a link with the nearby towns in the Madonie. It is still possible to see some of the remains of the Arabian stronghold and of a fairly well preserved XIX century castle tower.
