Castronovo di Sicilia rises among the Sicani mountains, close to Lake Fanaco, dominated by Mount Kassar and its sheer sides. The Mother church, featuring artworks by Antonello Gagini, vestments, altar cloths and holy vessels, is well worth a visit, and so are the Church of the Madonna della Bagnara, dating back to the XIII century, and the church of San Francesco. Close to the San Vitale rock there are the remains of the Castle and of the late Byzantine church.
The Parish Museum, inside the Mother church, contains refined silver liturgical objects and paraments. In the surroundings of the state road, you can find the San Pietro farmhouse, which also includes a small Byzantine church.
The various religious feasts taking place in Castronovo are extremely fascinating, especially those taking place during the Holy Week.
